Tide Pooling

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. My computer has taken a turn for the worst and the server has been down at work so there has been a lack of internet access. We just got new computers at work (with Windows XP, thank goodness for no more Windows 2000) and a new server so things are looking up, electronically speaking.

I put Dad and Nancy on a plane early yesterday morning after a week of beautiful weather and lots of fun times together. Now it is raining and thoroughly nastly out so I thought it would be a perfect time to escape by posting about some of our adventures.

On Tuesday afternoon we hiked part of the Pacific Coast Trail from Cape Sebastian to Meyer's beach. The trail cut tunnels through bushes and jogged out to the edge of the cape for views of the ocean and rocky outcroppings. Although it was very windy that day we were protected in the trees and had a great hike.

On the beach the tide was very low and small sandy tide pools were exposed. There were huge colorful seastars and barnicles and anemones plastered to the sides of rocks. We even saw a little hermit crab in a snail shell. Very exciting.

When we got back to the top of the cape the sun was setting...

More to come, including a trip to the redwoods!
